It all starts in football with two teams playing for victory. After ninety minutes either one or the other team has won, but the game may end in a draw. This can also be the case in KO rounds, where the game can go into extra time. So with a 3-way bet you can use these three possible outcomes as a market and prove your own expertise. Depending on the probabilities of the events occurring, there are different odds and therefore different winnings. But the 3-way bet is not the only way to get to grips with a football match. Meanwhile, there are many different types of bets for football bets, with which also very different possibilities arise. In the following we provide you with a detailed explanation of each bet type.
2-Way and 3-Way Bets
The 3-way bet is the one that is most often offered or used, as it basically reflects what a soccer game is all about. Basically such a bet does not have to reflect victory, draw and win, but could of course offer other events to come to a 3-way bet. Similarly simple works the 2-way bet, which in this case would ignore the draw. Often it is also offered parallel to the 3-way bet. In the end you can only bet on the victory of one or the other team. In tennis, for example, the 2-way bet is quite normal.
Result Bets for Football
What this is all about is already in the name. The results bet is not just about the approximate trend, i.e. whether one team wins or the other, but actually about the naked result. According to the chances there are here substantially higher odds than with the 3-way bet, since substantially more different results are conceivable. Of course it will be correspondingly difficult. The division into favorites and underdogs doesn’t help very much, because you are still spoilt for choice with the number of goals and then the underdog can also score. Accordingly, you have to be careful with bets on results, which do not forgive a goal too much or too little.
Betting on Individual Players / Goal Scorers
A team is made up of players and personalized football betting is all about them. These bets are often related to goals. For example, it is a matter of determining which player will score the first or even the last goal. Here, of course, the top strikers are usually at the very front and the goalkeepers far behind. You can definitely find good odds here, but it is also risky. It is always possible that a strong striker does not score on that day or that another player wets the net beforehand. But these odds to the goal scorers will definitely provide some variety.
Half-Time/Time Betting
A football match is divided into two halves and this is exactly what this type of bet refers to. So you do not bet on the result at the end of the whole game, but on the result after one of the halves. If you do not bet on each half individually, then they are usually linked. With home/home, for example, you can bet that the home team will lead at the end of both the 1st and 2nd half. In the same way, there can also be a home draw. With these odds, outsiders sometimes have better chances to win at least the 1st half.
Double Chance Bets
The double chance is basically an extension of the 3-way bet. In this bet you bet on 1X2, i.e. 1st team win, draw or 2nd team win. The double chance now summarizes two possible outcomes. Then you can bet on 1X, 12 or even 2X. So you cover 2 out of 3 possible final results with one odds. This will definitely increase your chances of winning, but at the expense of the odds. Whether or not you still achieve halfway good odds depends on the favorites and outsiders involved. Basically it is a safer betting method in football.
Over/under Betting on Football
Over/under bets are a special type of bet, which mainly refers to the goals in football. Here you do not bet on a winner or a result, but on an area that is above or below a certain number. In detail, this could be, for example, the options +- 1.5 goals or +- 2.5 goals. For example, you are betting that less than 2.5 goals will be scored in the game. The reason for this odd number is that you can still win with 2 goals. It does not matter which team or whether both score the goals, as long as the total number of goals matches the bet. Since over/under bets tend to limit a range, the odds are not bad at some odds. You don’t necessarily have to bet on goals only, but there can also be over/under bets on corners, fouls or even cards, but this is much less common.
Both Teams Meet at Soccer
The bet type “Hit both teams” is about a tip concerning the goals. The name of the bet already describes that it is about goals for both teams in this game. So it is not about the total number of goals or which side has more, but simply whether both teams score at least one goal. So the bet is always played with “yes” or “no”. “Yes” means that there is at least one 1:1. However, it can also be any higher result as long as both teams score and there are no zero goals on either side. If you bet with “No”, you are betting on the fact that at least one team will not score at all. In the end, the result after 90 minutes is important. Offside or disallowed goals do not count as goals. Also in cup matches, usually only the regular playing time is valid. If extra time is also counted, it will be explicitly written down.
Live Football Betting
Live bets are not to be thought out nowadays actually no more from the offer of the bet offerers. They have such a special position that they get their own area on the websites. That is connected above all however with it, how they function. Basically, even with live betting, there are many different types of bets that can be found in football and other sports betting. The difference is that bets are not placed before an event, but during it. A second important difference is that the bets and odds offered change during the course of the game. For example, you can bet on which team will score the next goal. If a goal is scored, new odds are generated for the next but one goal. Also, the odds on live football bets change simply because of time. If there are 90 minutes left on the clock, the odds of a goal are higher than if there is only one minute left.
According to these changed odds, live bets are very popular, but you should be able to watch the game live to really get an idea of the chances. If you don’t do that, then the odds become a pure game of chance, because of course an outsider can also score a goal at any time in the game, especially if he has a good phase and you can see that.
Handicap and Asian Handicap Betting
Handicap betting is about giving a disadvantage to one team or an advantage to another before the match. This is done directly in numbers. For example, a team is given a +1 handicap. If the game ends with a 2:2 handicap, the game ends with a 2:3 handicap. Whoever has now bet on it wins. Ties are not possible with normal handicap bets. The sense behind this is that it becomes interesting with outsiders, for example. For example, if you deduct two goals from the favorites’ team, could the underdog win the game? An extension of these types of bets are the Asian handicap bets, where draws are also possible, for which it returns the stake, or smaller units of the handicap are also possible, for example -0.75 on goals. The highlight of the bets is that the stake is related to the neighbouring handicaps, for example -0.75 to -0.50 and 1.
Long term Football Betting
As the name implies, long term bets are made for a longer period of time. While live bets look at individual parts of a game and normal bets look at a game as a whole, long-term bets usually cover entire tournaments and competitions. Bets are not placed on the outcome of a single game, but on the outcome of a competition. This can be a league, a world championship, the Champions League also a European championship. So you bet on the future champion or title holder. Long-term betting does not mean that you can bet long before the actual event, which is also possible for individual games, but that the events themselves last a long time. A season often lasts 10 to 12 months, a world championship also a whole month. Often the best odds for the team are given at the very beginning of such a competition. Here, the outsider odds are interesting, even though they are often associated with a high risk.
Not only the title alone can be part of a long term bet, it is also possible to bet on the best goal scorer or the runner-up. With this type of betting, it is quite possible to place a small bet as a fan, which can be very lucrative with the underdog tips in the event of a win. History has seen several times that underdogs can win titles in long term bets. For example 2004 Greece as European Champion or 2016 Leicester City in the Premier League.
